Hardwood stair treads have been used by builders for hundreds of years and with good reason, strength. In today’s homes they still provide strength and toughness, but also can make a big impact on the look and style of your home.
Folsom Stair and Hardwood Treads are Time Proven
The family of Folsom Stair & Woodworks has provided hardwood stair treads for not only 35 years as a Stair Contractor, but for more than 67 years as a Flooring Contractor. There was a time when carpet was not approved as finished flooring and hardwood flooring was used throughout most of the home, so it was required that flooring contractors install hardwood stair treads along with the hardwood flooring. Pull the carpet up on many homes built in the 50’s, and you will find the original hardwood floor, usually red oak or maple.
Hardwood Stair Treads are a Favorite
Today, many home owners are going back to the beauty and toughness of hardwood stair treads. Many wood species are available and combined with custom stains and finishes. Blending with your existing décor has never been easier.
Hardwood Stair Treads are of Two Types
Folsom Stair & Woodworks supplies two different types of hardwood stair treads. First is the traditional 1″ thick solid stair tread and second is the Replacement Tread. In new custom homes the rough framing of a stair considers that 1″ solid treads will be used, and the stair is framed to accommodate them. But what if you have an existing stair with carpet on the rough treads and it was framed only allowing a ½” or ¾” product to be used? No Problem! Replacement Treads are of solid hardwood and made to the thickness required to replace your carpet. The nose of each Replacement Tread is 1″ thick and lips over your rough stair. It will look as if you have 1″ thick solid hardwood treads.
Folsom Stair Can Replace Your Treads in One Day!
How would you like to have a beautiful hardwood stair in just one day? Yes, it is possible with pre-finished Replacement Treads from Folsom Stair & Woodworks. We will remove your carpet (or you can remove the carpet yourself) and then take templates of your existing rough treads. After picking a stain color, your replacement treads are built in our shop by our experienced Bench Carpenters. If you have a closed in stair, your new hardwood stair treads may be installed in as little time as one working day. No mess, no fumes, affordable and a beautiful stair update. If you have an open tread stair, your balustrade may play a part in determining the installation method and schedule of your Replacement Treads.
